Ramya Ramakrishnan
I love to tell stories, be it through an illustration, a short comic, or through an application design. An alumnus of National Institute of Design (Ahmedabad) and Sir JJ Institute of Applied Art (Mumbai), I work with various folks in the fields of Illustration, Comics and Sequential Art, Graphic Design and UI and UXD.
I am also passionate about sharing what I have learned, leading to my various stints as a faculty with various premier design schools in India, currently at Ecole Intuit.lab.
My approach is to deep dive into the problem, be it for a single packaging illustration, or an entire series of educational products. My greatest thrills have been seeing my work out in the real world, in the hands of the users!
Some notable projects:
My recently completed project Kissa Kahani, as Design Lead for Ci3 at the University of Chicago, has won the Community Choice prize as well as the Runner up in its category (Design Education Initiative) at the Core77 Awards 2020.
My comic has been published as a part of the Bangalore Graphic Novel Anthology by Syenagiri publications.
My self published zines Yeuch and Digging Deeper are available for sale, along with Art prints and paintings.
Currently:
I am teaching at Ecole Intuit.lab and completing a short comic (entirely in watercolour) on the story of INSV Tarini, the first Indian sailboat with an all-women crew to complete the circumnavigation of the globe!
